Quotations are from the Oxford World’s Classics text, edited by Pat Rogers (2006), with further modernisation and supplementation by the Twickenham Edition, the earlier Oxford text edited by Herbert Davis (1966), and later excellent editions (Valerie Rumbold’s of The Dunciad (1999) and Tom Jones’s of An Essay on Man (2016)).
